Andrea Carvacho Wilke

Artist's Statement: I studied scenography at the University of Chile, Design at the INCACEA Institute, and Foreign Trade at the University of Santiago. I worked 9 years as a designer for a textile and decoration company, in 2003 I started this new path, reinventing my new life, all this that I had been thinking about a couple of years ago with a lot of effort came true: managing to show my work in several places of the world.
My inspiration speaks from a need for identity as a country Chile, the wealth of minerals, of South America, of its history, of its Pacific Ocean, of fantasies and legends, of pieces that are part of the Cultural heritage of Chile and the world. Many of my pieces are made with ancestral techniques, mixed fabric between copper and silk, works on canvas, Chinese ink, acrylic, silver leaf, gold, copper, and copper cloth.
Some of my pieces can be found in permanent collections of museums, corporate buildings, hotels, private collections, Universities, and as official gifts given to former President of the United States Barack Obama, Former President of the French Republic Nicolás Sarkozy, Queen Consort of Spain Doña Letizia Ortiz, Rania Al-Yassin Queen Consort of Jordan, Ambassadors and ministers, to name a few.
